Infrared Detectors Sales Will Top USD 968 Mn in 2031 amid Surging Demand for High-Quality Surveillance Systems: Fact.MR

´º½ºÀÏÀÚ: 2022-02-08

SEOUL-- February 08, 2022 -- Growing preference for technology-based effective security systems is boosting sales of infrared detectors at a 7.7% CAGR, finds Fact.MR in a recent market analysis. Increasing sales of consumer electronics are expected to bolster the growth of the market, with total sales reaching US$ 968 Mn in 2031.

Increasing adoption of infrared detectors in public places such as museums, airports, libraries, restaurants, and retail stores to detect motion and count people is propelling sales in the China market. Besides this, increasing the utilization of smart home devices in the residential sector will boost the market in the forthcoming years.

Apart from these sectors, infrared detectors are adopted in the chemical industry to detect gas leaks. However, catalytic detectors are preferred more as they detect hydrogen gas, have a longer lifecycle, and are cost-effective. They are available in standard patterns, are easy to install, and are simple to operate.

These detectors can operate in high temperatures, in dusty and humid environments, and detect combustible hydrocarbon and other gases such as butane, butadiene, hexane, propane, methane, ethane, and propylene.

Driven by this, sales in China are expected to increase at a considerable pace through 2031. Low cost and high production capabilities in the country will place it as a lucrative market in the Asia Pacific, with sales projected to total US$ 165 Mn by 2031.

“Increasing applications of infrared detectors in smart home appliances such as garage doors, smart lighting, and burglar alarms will drive sales in the market. Besides this, surging adoption in the military and defense sector will continue boosting the market over the assessment period,” says a Fact.MR analyst.

Increasing Demand for Short Wave Infrared Detectors to Fuel Sales in Japan

Surging applications of short wave infrared detectors in the military and defense sectors, along with increasing sales in the industrial sector and scientific image processing will drive growth in the market. These detectors are used for the analysis of spectroscopes and other devices used in the industrial sector.

In addition to this, they are being used for quality analysis of various products in the agriculture sector, sorting plastics for recycling purposes, and the detection of unknown substance structural clarification, along with the classification of purity of substances.

Short wave infrared detectors are also used to click images through water to identify metallization and defects in electrical contact. They are often used in civil applications such as inspection of bottling plants, solar cells, and fruit plant inspection.

The military sector is the leading end user of infrared detectors in Japan. Short wave infrared detectors are used in the military sector for night vision, surveillance, and camouflage identification. They are used for taking images in high contrast atmospheric conditions such as heavy rain, fog, and mist.

Considering this, Fact.MR has forecasted the sales of short wave infrared detectors to surge at a 7.9% CAGR through 2031.

Some of the leading players profiled by Fact.MR operating in the infrared detectors market include:
